WHEN TO REACH OUT
It's hard to tell what's normal teen stuff
and what isn't.
If changes are lasting weeks, or getting in the way of school, friendships, or family life, it's worth talking to someone. You don't need to be sure. That's what the first visit is for.
âś” Pulling away from friends, family, or activities they used to enjoy
âś” Panic, constant worry, or avoiding school
âś” Big changes in sleep, eating, or grades
âś” Sadness or irritability that doesn't lift
âś” Intense anger or mood swings that feel out of proportion
âś” Constant conflict at home that's wearing everyone down
Here’s how psychiatric care fits in
LOOKING FOR TEEN COUNSELING?
Counseling focuses on talk therapy. Psychiatric care starts with a thorough evaluation to understand what's driving your teen's struggles, then builds a full treatment plan. At Lewis Family Psychiatry, that plan includes therapy-based techniques like CBT, lifestyle support, and close follow-up.
Already working with a therapist? We're happy to coordinate with them.

WHAT TO EXPECT
1
Time together, and time one-on-one
We hear from you as a parent, and give your teen private time to talk in their own words. Many teens find video easier than an office.
2
A thorough, measured evaluation
Validated screening tools plus a full look at sleep, school, stress, and relationships, so the plan is built on clear information.
3
A plan with real follow-through
Therapy-based skills, lifestyle support, and regular check-ins where we track progress and adjust as your teen grows.

What parents of teens ask us
-
That's very common. We start by listening, not lecturing, and many teens are more comfortable on video from their own room. You're welcome to call us first to talk through how to bring it up.
-
Teens get private time with their provider, which helps them open up. Parents stay informed about the overall plan, and we always share anything related to safety.
-
Not quite. Psychiatric care includes a full evaluation and a broader treatment plan, with therapy-based techniques built in. We can also work alongside your teen's therapist.
-
We accept [list insurance plans] and offer flexible self-pay. Our office can check your coverage before the visit.
-
This page is for teens 13 to 17. We also care for younger children (4 and up) and adults, so siblings and parents can be seen here too.
You don’t have to wait and see.
